Halloween: Candy, Pumpkins and…Lobsters?

Well, guys, we have about a week and a half before it’s time for trick or treating, so I’m going to bring you a few posts on Halloween fun! The first is, of course, costumes! I thought it would be fun to Gourmet it up and check out all of the fun food costumes you can dress your little ones in – and don’t worry, there’s a role for you, too!

The first one is so genius I really wish I could take credit for it, but alas, I must give Gillian Ferguson credit for this one. Perfect for the really little guys because there’s a built-in tot-tote, too!

Chef’s Special

Mom or Dad gets to play my favorite two roles – parent and chef! Grown ups dress as the chef and baby gets to be the lobster… in a pot! You could also go with a shrimp, a crawfish, a cow… use your best sense of creativity and humor! You can always let the little ones turn the tables – YOU dress as the crustacean and let them go as the chef! (check out Martha Stewart for instructions on a homemade lobster costume).

This is always a super cute costume, especially for twins! Thanks to Parenting.com for easy instructions on how to make this one at home (http://www.parenting.com/article/pea-in-a-pod-21355172)

The kids may not always get along, but Halloween is all about pretending, right? Give peace a try with this adorable milk and cookie pairs costume!

Spaghetti and Meatballs

This one’s a McDermott original! T and I dressed Hattie up as this pasta dish last year and thought she looked delicously adorable! We dressed Finn as another favorite food as well. You can see a tutorial and their costumes on Tori’s site here.

What was your favorite Halloween costume when you were a kid?

And feel free to share your best food costume ideas below!

My babies have four legs, but these costumes are adorable! Love it!!!

How many do you have? You can make them sausage links! haha ;)

Three. One is a Yorkie who is my baby. Love him! Love the other two too. One is a malty poo that my husband found lying next to a Home Depot. She was a wreck. Eyes were crusted shut from infection. The other is Pekingese mix that was abandoned on a street near us. All three are incredible and bring a lot of joy!
